Last year I wrote a grant asking the Clear Creek Education Foundationhttp://clearcreekeducationfoundation.org/ to support me in providing my class with distance learning experiences to support the TEKS outlined in our First Grade Curriculum. I was fortunate enough to have my grant approved and your kids will experience some fabulous learning experiences because of it!
The Distance Learning Programs take place in our own classroom. We connect to other professionals around the world that talk to your kids live from the TV! The programs are interactive and the kids are allowed to ask questions to help clarify their understanding of the topics being discussed.
After each session I send home a Distance Learning Newsletter sharing all the information we learned. At the bottom I include a list of Burning Questions that you can ask your child to spark the conversation so that you can have a meaningful converstion with your child about their experience with the Distance Learning Program. Below I will post any pictures and the Newsletter for you to use and share.
I am so glad that I am able to provide your child with these additional learning experiences. A big thank you to the Clear Creek Education Foundation as well for their insight into the fabulous learning expereinces I described and their willingness to take education to the next level.
Music in the Movies
We had our first connection of the school year with the Cleveland Institute of Music. We had a fun look at Music in the Movies learning how music helps to tell a story and heighten the emotional impact of movie scenes. We noted the musical impact heard during the opening scene of Harry Potter and we discovered the difference of our expectations when different music was played with the Telletubby intro.
